MIWB welcomes new Board Chair

Mount Isa Water Board welcomes the commencement of a new Director and Board Chair, Mr Steve de Kruijff.

“Mr de Kruijff has a long association with Mount Isa and his proven business acumen will be a great benefit to MIWB” Chief Executive, Stephen Farrelly said “He has also shown himself to be a business leader concerned for engagement with the community in which we operate”.

Steve de Kruijff started his career as an apprentice electrician with Mount Isa Mines, and his passion for the mining business saw him become Chief Operating Officer for Glencore North Queensland Copper Assets before stepping down in 2014. Steve received an Order of Australia Medal at this year’s Australia Day celebrations for his contribution to our community and counts organisational community engagement as one of his proudest career achievements.

Mr de Kruijff replaces Rowena McNally who has ably lead the Board for 14 years. “I would like to acknowledge Ms McNally’s diligent and valuable contribution to MIWB over what has been an extraordinary 14 years of substantial change in the industry and the organisation” Mr de Kruijff said “Rowena’s legacy is an established, professional and well managed organisation”.

Mount Isa Water Board is a State Government agency charged with managing $115 million in vital water supply infrastructure, delivering tens of billions of litres of water each year to customers, including the city and major industrial customers. “I look forward to guiding the Board, working with our major customers and stakeholders and keeping the organisation on the path of continuous improvement” Mr de Kruijff said.
