Aquatic Weed Harvesting Campaign

Aquatic Weed Harvesting Campaign

The Mount Isa Water Board has commissioned a second smaller and highly maneuverable aquatic weed harvester for our operations at Lake Moondarra. The smaller weed harvester will operate alongside our existing larger vessel.

With both aquatic weed harvesters in operation from Thursday 16 December 2021, our ability to harvest and manage the aquatic weed in and around Lake Moondarra has been significantly improved.

The smaller and more maneuverable weed harvester will now allow harvesting along the shoreline, enabling us to target popular swimming and recreation areas at Transport Bay. Our aquatic weed harvesting campaign will run from December 2021 until April 2022 and target a number of other areas such as Kinfisher Point and Black Rock Boat Ramp.

The Mount Isa Water Board will continue to run the aquatic weed harvesting campaigns into the future as part of our annual operational plan.
